For the most part what they do is try to survive in any way they can. Aside from the obvious irony of an actor being murdered with his own Oscar, or Tony, or whatever it is, Steven Bochco's novel is a brilliant study in the use of dramatic irony. Yossarian's questions and responses to his situation show that he is indeed a sane man in an insane situation.
